4. Loading
and unloading by derrick and cranes.
Requirements
for task-
GSK text book, notes, pictures, videos.
Description/precaution-
Ø Crane only
used on modern ships and derricks normally used on old type of ship.
Ø Both are
used for loading or discharging of cargo, shift the weight on deck etc.
Ø Equipment
should be maintained regularly.
Ø Wires,
blocks, slings, greased regularly.
Ø All equipment
should have test certificates.
Ø The operator
should have a good knowledge of equipments.
Ø Safety sign
boards should be placed on deck.
Ø All
personnel should wear the proper ppe.
Ø Proper
illumination should be on deck.
Ø a dedicated
person should show the signals to the crane operator.
