  Task: Level measuring devices and techniques

  Sub Task: Introduction to various level measuring devices fitted onboard the vessel.

  Aims:

1.     Identify various level measuring devices.

2.     What is the use of level measuring devices?

3.     How to read measuring devices.

4.     What is sounding and ullage?

 

Requirement for performing the task:

1.     Reference theory from MEK text book

2.     Various level measuring devices

·        Sounding rod

·        Sounding tape

·        Dip stick

·        Gauge glass

·        Sight glass etc.

 

Precaution to be observed:

1.     Wear proper PPE

2.     Do not leave the sounding pipe cap open.

3.     Make sure sounding tape is clean before use.

4.     Do not close the cock of gauge glass by mistake.
