  Sub Task: Various possibilities of emergencies which can happen in engine room.

  Aims:

1.     What is emergency?

2.     Types of emergencies in engine room.

3.     What are the possibilities of emergencies in engine room

 

Requirement for performing the task:

1.     Reference theory from MEK text book.

 

Precaution to be observed:

 

1.     Must have knowledge of emergency escape route.

2.     All the emergency equipment should be in good condition.

3.     All emergency escape routes should be properly lit.

4.     There should be not be any obstruction in escape route.

What is emergency?

Emergency is a situation which cannot be control and it can happen at any time at any place.

 

 

TYPES OF EMERGENCIES IN ENGINE ROOM:

1.     Flooding

2.     Fire

3.     Scavenge fire

4.     Crack case explosion

5.     Engine failure

6.     Boiler back fire

7.     Blackout

 

POSSIBILITIES OF EMERGENCY IN E/R

1.     Dirty engine room.

2.     Unwanted oily rags on platform.

3.     Fuel pipe line leakage

4.     Short circuit.

5.     Human error
